Urban Outfitters

2019 / Under direction of: Andrew McQuiston, Mika Osborn, James Mackenzie and Matt Owen

As a Junior UI Designer, I helped launch the newest 2018 version of the UO app. I created assets and new systems in partnership with Urban Outfitters’ lead designers. Through collaboration with the company’s UX designers, copyrighting team, art team, and digital media team, I helped create wires to become fleshed out branded designs. The job entailed working with third parties to create effective advertising visuals, creating seasonal assets, icons, emails, and new user- interaction strategies.

The UI team I belonged to decided to revamp the Urban Outfitters blog. It had enormous potential as a platform for videos, photos, instagram stories, city guides, and shoppable content from UO, but was rarely interacted with. My strategy was to use my past experience with editorial design and take cues from top article competitors like Buzzfeed and Refinery29 to create a dynamic and visually interesting content platform.

Self-Checkout was a test project executed by Urban Outfitters to see how customers would respond to having an independent checkout experience. I helped redesign the screens that the customer interacted with. Overall, the project was a huge success financially, so the self checkout kiosks are still located in the New York City Herald Square location.
